Mikuni at The Oaks is a sushi and seafood restaurant tucked inside the Pavilions shopping center on Fair Oaks Boulevard. As a full-service spot, it blends a lively bar vibe with serious Japanese cuisine, making it well-suited for both casual dinners and after-work gatherings.

The atmosphere here tends to be clean and modern, with enough buzz to feel social without being overwhelming. Seating moves at a steady pace, which speaks to an efficient staff that balances friendliness with professionalism — though some guests note the service can start a bit reserved before warming up.

The menu highlights include a range of rolls and small plates that underscore fresh seafood and thoughtful preparation. Dishes like the Rainbow Roll and Annie Roll stand out for their colorful, artistic presentations, while items such as garlicky edamame, tempura green beans, and jalapeño calamari provide a mix of crispy and savory bites. Bento box combinations, like teriyaki chicken with California roll, offer simple but satisfying options for lunchtime visitors on the go.

This place tends to attract sushi lovers looking for both classic and inventive choices, with options that cater well to those who enjoy sharing plates. The bar area also makes it a good spot to wind down with a drink alongside oysters or the "Pimp my roll" for those who seek something a little different from the usual sushi experience.

For locals and travelers passing through Sacramento, Mikuni at The Oaks works well as a midweek lunch stop or a casual dinner spot. The dining rhythm fits well around shopping trips or meeting friends, with food delivered promptly enough to suit both relaxed and quicker visits.

Overall, expect a spot where presentation and fresh flavors take center stage, wrapped in a straightforward sushi restaurant environment that feels like a reliable choice for quality Japanese fare without straying too far from familiar territory.

The food is delicious. And the rolls are a work of art. Beautiful presentation and the taste is just fantastic.

Popped in for a lunch whilst heading for San Francisco (well we’d never been to Sacramento so took the opportunity). The restaurant is clean and tidy. We were seated quickly and the staff are friendly and polite. I love a good bento box so I went for the teriyaki chicken and California roll combo. We also had to jalapeño calamari and prawn tempura which were both perfectly cooked. Nice and crispy but not overcooked. Spot on. Other members of our family also had udon noodle bowl, the Annie roll and the sesame chicken. It was all very tasty. Total for 8 people was $207. Bargain. Recommended.

Our service was cool, I had to break the ice with him a little to get him a bit more chipper but overall it worked out perfect. The food was cool price is crazy but that is normal for the makuni life.

My go to spot in Sacramento for Sushi! We ordered the crispy gyoza, tempura vegetables, and the vegi ten rolls. The food and service here is always great. I would definitely recommend!

One of the best sushi experiences! Our waitress and sushi chef were both amazing. We love the scallop roll so much we ordered a second one, and the Pimp my roll was perfect. Oysters also were awesome, I would just ask for no soy sauce next time.

Mikuni has a great reputation for Sushi already, and this new location did not disappoint. Beautifully appointed restaurant, two bars, sushi, and drink. Lots of seating. The fish was fresh. The plates were beautiful, and the food was delicious. The staff was attentive. I arrived hyst before happy hour ended, but the waitress allowed me to order starters for the table with just two minutes left, even though my friends weren't there yet. We'll definitely return.

I was blown away with the whole experience at this sushi restaurant. The service was amazing and the waitress was very attentive. She helped us understand their extensive menu, sauces, different rolls, appetizers, etc… Additionally, drinks were constantly topped off. Everything tased amazing. I’ve been to MANY sushi restaurants all over the nation and this was just as good as the best of them. The whole place was clean. There are options to boot for everyone in the family. Give it a shot. It’s delicious!

Very delicious! I had their beef curry and really enjoyed the thickness & flavor of the sauce and loved how tender and well seasoned the beef was! I also tried one of their scallop sushi dishes and I particularly liked its sweet, savory and smoky flavor. I will definitely come back
